People once thought that it is impossible to finish a 1 mile race in 4 minutes’ time. Therefore, the record for 1mile race for a long time was kept at more than 4 minutes. Soon an American sportsman Bannister broke the world record. How did he do that? Every morning when Bannister woke up, he would shout this to himself, ‘I will finish a 1mile race in less than 4 minutes! I will realize my dreams! I will succeed!’ He would repeat this to himself 100 times before he proceeded for the tough physical training with his coach. Bannister finally broke the world record for 1mile race by 3min 56.6sec. Interestingly, within a year after him, 37 runners were able to achieve the same result. The year following that saw a total of more than 300 people breaking that record.
